We want you to have the peace of mind you deserve.

Hebrews 16: Make sure you don’t take things for granted and go slack in working for the common good; share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship- a different kind of “sacrifice”- that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.

Medical field to pasture

My name is James Coto, and I am a Bulloch county native. I graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School and later attended Georgia Southern University majoring in exercise science. I transferred to Ogeechee Technical College, and received my Emergency Medical Technician license before finally going to Southeastern Technical College and graduating with an Associate’s degree in Registered Nursing (RN).

I grew up with animals raised for my family's freezer and in doing so, I developed a love for raising and handling livestock. This, coupled with my background in healthcare and nutrition, is what sparked an interest in raising my own livestock for my own growing family.

In a world fueled by always wanting more, we have found our society suffering from obesity, increased chronic illness, and increased mental health issues. I felt there was a common underlying issue: diet. Much of these chronic illnesses can be corrected simply by changing what we put into our body. Knowing what I do about healthcare and nutrition, I knew I couldn’t succumb to the evolving door of birth to death resulting from less than ideal nutrition. I have my own family now, and I refuse to raise them on primarily processed foods. I didn’t want to stop at my own family though. With my faith and healthcare background, I knew in my soul that I was created to serve. That’s why, with the help of my wife, we are here to take our blessings and share the good news through Born & Grazed Farming Co.

Classroom to home

“James and I have always had a strong partnership. High school sweethearts turned parents, we’ve learned and grown together in so many ways. When we moved to our forever home with a collective 30+ acres between ourselves and family, we knew we had an opportunity to get back to the good ‘ole days and instill some of the most valuable lessons in our children that my Papaw still shares with me from when he was a young boy growing up. Through his stories, I learned I could have two major things by prioritizing some extra time and effort:

  • Power

  • Peace of mind

That’s all I really needed to get me delving into homesteading methods. I’m no “off-the-gridder”, but I do enjoy usefulness and practicality, and that’s what I hope to share with our followers- useful and practical ways to have confidence and transparency in the products we use in our home and feed our families daily. In addition to those things is the real cherry on top- watching my children learn daily invaluable lessons of life on a farm.

Philippians 4:9- Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.
